Circuit Television (CCTV)
One
of the most frustrating features for users and operators of CCTV systems
is capturing only a back
or
obscured side view of a potential intruder.
Our research using The Localizer has shown
that in most cases, responding to a short pulse of sound is
subconscious. If the sound is broadband, listeners will turn,
briefly and without being aware of their movement, in the direction of
the sound source. CCTV
systems and their limitations today Sound Alert Technology has conducted some research at Leeds University on a novel concept to improve the chances of getting a full facial shot of terrorists, prowlers or intruders.
The opportunity CCTV & Facial Recognition Software Systems ImprovementBoth
CCTV and facial recognition software systems are advancing in capability all the
time… however, neither has the ability to make a target subject look
toward the camera other than by chance. If
Face2Cam
is used in conjunction with these systems it is possible to activate a short pulse of directional
broadband sound, which causes a subject to
look towards the source of that sound. This allows a full facial shot
to be captured by the CCTV camera. Triggering can be either manual
(remote) or automatic by a PIR, IR or Photoelectric beam, pressure pad, or it can be software driven. Facial
